acne is a very
common and is not limited to teenagers. it is the most common
skin disorder in the U.S., affecting 17 million people (and
not all of them teens). from infants to the elderly, 80% of
the population experiences acne at one time or another. scrubbing
with harsh soaps or cleansers and using some acne medications
can irritate and dry your skin, making your acne worse.
Cleanse with a gentle cleanser every morning and
night to remove dirt, oil, and makeup without overhydrating or removing
too much of your skin's natural oils.

vibrant skin and stimulate your complexion at least 3 times a week.
Tone
your skin with an alcohol-based toner to
tighten pores and remove any traces of cleanser or other residue.
Moisturize
in the morning and night with a gel or oil-free lotion to protect
and not aggressively hydrate your skin.
Sun Block
will protect your skin during the day using oil-free products.
Seasonal Care for Acne Prone Skin
it is expected that your skin experience slight changes
throughout each season.
Winter
is typically the skin’s
driest season, due to decreasing humidity, cold temperatures, and
increased time spent indoors with dehydrating heating systems. even
oily skin can experience some dryness. apply lightweight moisturizers to the face and body at this time to
help maintain the skin’s healthy hydration levels and consider using
a humidifier at home and at the office to add moisture to the air.
Spring is when the skin is ready to shed layers of dead, flaky
patches, so exfoliation will be a top priority. as the season progresses,
you can start shifting to oil-free cleansers and moisturizers in preparation
for the warm months ahead.
Summer usually means increased outdoor activity and sun exposure. protect your skin with oil-free sunblock and moisturizers with SPF
during the daytime, every day. oil-free products also help to avoid shiny, oily skin, and clogged pores.
Fall is a cool, refreshing transition from summer to winter and requires
all the essential skin care basics -- protection from the sun with
sunblock, replenishing hydration, and exfoliation.
